The Lower Columbia baseball team got clutch pitching and some long ball thunder in a doubleheader sweep of Olympic on Saturday March 3rd at Story Field.
Ricky Muzzy and
Kyle Sandstrom hit homers to lead the Devils to an 8-0 victory in game one.Â
Yancy Bird went six scoreless innings to get the win and
DeShawn Johnson got a three inning save.
The Devils won the second game 4-2 as
Sam Trend-Beacom went 3 for 4 with a two run shot. It backed the pitching of
Zac Horne who scattered seven hits in 4 1/3 innings of work.Â
Derek Downey got the win in relief as he gave up three hits in 4 2/3 innings.
In the first game,
JT Strickler had two hits and two RBI's.Â
Zach Threlfall had two walks, was hit by a pitch and scored two runs in his collegiate debut.
Bird was downright nasty striking out eight in his six frames.
In the nightcap,
Hunter Cook had two hits.
Trevor Paro and
GJ Hurst drove in runs.
The Rangers showed they are relentless as they had 17 hits in the twin bill, but couldn't get the clutch hits.
The Devils take three of the four games against Olympic and will get back on the field Friday March 9th against the Lane Titans. The double header begins at 2:00 pm. The teams will also meet in an 11:00 am DH Saturday March 10th.
