LONGVIEW, Wash. — The Lower Columbia College Red Devils defeated the Treasure Valley Community College Chukars 82-62 on Thursday night at Myklebust Gymnasium.
With the victory, Lower Columbia moves to 6-1 on the season.
The Red Devils built a significant lead early, holding Treasure Valley to 22 points in the first half to take a 45-22 advantage at the break. LCC shot 54.5 percent from the field for the game while holding the visiting Chukars to 32.4 percent shooting.
Control of the rebounding battle was key for Lower Columbia. The Red Devils pulled down 49 rebounds compared to 26 for Treasure Valley. LCC secured 38 defensive boards, limiting second-chance points for the opposition.
James Grose led the scoring effort for Lower Columbia with 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including three 3-pointers. He also added seven rebounds.
Chance White contributed 15 points, four assists, and three steals. inside, Skyler Schmidt finished with 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Point guard Shane Douma-Sanchez facilitated the offense with a game-high 9 assists, while adding nine points and six rebounds.
LCC extended its lead to as many as 35 points in the second half. Treasure Valley found more scoring opportunities after the break, led by Eli Igiranez with 19 points, but could not close the gap significantly.
The Red Devils finished the game with 24 assists on 36 made field goals. The night concluded with a dunk by Kenyan Jackman-Thomas in the final minute to seal the 82-62 final score.
